Favorite movie: Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark
Favorite book: Along Came a Spider by James Patterson
Favorite musician: Jason Mraz

Bradley Meader is going to miss Windham High School and all the opportunities it presented to try new things. He took advantage of many of these opportunities, especially in the drama department. He acted in the fall musicals, and assistant directed this year’s musical, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. He acted and assistant directed the One-Act play for the school. He was on the Science Bowl team. He played tennis. He was president of both National Honor Society and chamber singers. He was a member of Spanish Honor Society. He also has his own YouTube channel of music videos (called Brad Meader).

Next year, Brad will be attending Syracuse University. He plans on majoring in molecular biochemistry and biophysics, as well as minoring in vocal music performance or music production.

With his degree (and enough funding), Brad would like to research the relationship between the physics of sound waves and music and the biochemical structures in the ear. In his research, he hopes to learn about the effects of music therapy.

He would also like to add that he loves The Windham Eagle!

#2 Sarah Eastman
Favorite subject: Math
Favorite teacher: Mrs. McLellan
Favorite movie: Pride and Prejudice (1995)
Favorite book: Harry Potter series by J K Rowling and Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Favorite band: Skillet
Sarah will not miss the holistic high school experience, but rather her friends and teachers. She liked most of her classes, but favored her science and math courses. She was a member of the Latin Honor Society. As a junior, she competed with the Science Olympiad team. Her freshmen and sophomore years she volunteered at the First Lutheran Children’s program.

Next year Sarah will be going to the University of Maine at Farmington. There, she plans on majoring in mathematics and computer science. She has already been accepted into the Honors Club there. She also wants to try many of the clubs they offer. She wants to join their Ski and Outing Club. She was also interested in their Fooding Club (culinary), Stitch and Bitch Club (they knit, crochet, etc.), and their Table Games Club.

After college, Sarah has some very broad goals. She wants a job that she will love (preferably one that allows her to travel), to buy a house, and have a family. In her future house, she wants to have her own personal library. With bookcases from the ceiling to the floor on all of the walls and filled completely with books, it will be a reader’s dream.

Finally, Sarah would like to thank her family, friends, and teachers for helping her get through school and become the person who she is today.

#3 Lauren Doering
Favorite subject: Anything science related (mostly biology)
Favorite teacher: Mrs. Soucy
Favorite movie: The Proposal
Favorite book: The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein

Lauren Doering is going to miss Windham High School. Her teachers were very influential in her life and had a big impact on her growth. She is a four-year varsity field hockey player and a chamber singer. She is both a Spanish Honor Society and National Honor Society member. She taught Spanish to primary school children through the Spanish Honor Society’s “Aguilitos,” or Little Eagles, program. She has taken voice lessons for five years, and she has done karate for thirteen years.

Next fall, Lauren is going to become a student at the University of New England. While there, she plans on majoring in medical biology and minoring in neuroscience. She would love to be bilingual, so many of her electives while at the university will be Spanish courses. After she graduates, she would like to continue to further her knowledge by going to medical school. She wants to study to become an orthopedic surgeon.

Finally, she would like to thank her family for their support.

#4 Laura McKenna

Laura McKenna is going to miss Windham High School. She will especially miss the relationships that she has developed with her teachers, peers, and other friends throughout her four years there. This is not surprising considering how many activities she participated in throughout her four years. She played soccer, wrestled and ran track. She competed in the Science Olympiad and was part of the outing club. She was a member of both the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society. In addition to that, she was also active in the Leo Club at the high school and the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program.

Next year, Laura will be attending Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire. While there, she plans on studying child development, with a minor in pre-law. She will also be playing soccer. After graduating from Colby-Sawyer, Laura wants to attend law school. With her law degree, she would like to focus on international law or child advocacy.

#5 Johanna Stanley
Favorite subject: Chemistry
Favorite teacher: Mrs. Carter
Favorite movie: Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Favorite book: Water for Elephants
Favorite band: Florence and the Machine

Johanna Stanley has enjoyed her time at Windham High School. Her favorite part about the high school was the teachers. She says they were sarcastic and funny, but also very understanding and helpful.

Throughout her four years, she was active in many extracurricular endeavors. She was a part of the Spanish Honor Society, the Tri-M music honor society, and the National Honor Society. She acted in all four fall musicals the school put on while she was here: Bye, Bye Birdie, The Wizard of Oz, Guys and Dolls and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. She was a participant in the One-Act competition every year as well; and every year that there was a spring show, Johanna was in it. In addition to acting, Johanna was also active in the chamber singers, and was a part of the Gay-Straight Alliance at the high school.

Next year, Johanna will be travelling to Pennsylvania to become an Allegheny gator. At Allegheny College, she plans to study Spanish, theater and neuroscience. With her neuroscience degree, she hopes to study biological connections within the brain. She wants to discover the connections to behavioral and mental disorders in order to improve the medicine and therapy available to treat them.

Finally, Johanna would like to give a shout out to Maria Sepulveda for helping her through everything in their time at Windham High School.

#6 Keith Sample
Favorite subject: Chemistry
Favorite teacher: Mrs. McLellan
Favorite movie: Superbad
Favorite book (series): Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
Favorite musician: Lupe Fiasco
Keith Sample is going to miss Windham High School. He will miss the great people in the school, and the overall environment and atmosphere the school provides. During his four years at Windham High School he has participated in many different activities. He played tennis. He was also a member of the lacrosse team. He also competed in the Science Olympiad competition.

After graduating from Windham, Keith will be continuing his education. Next fall he will become a Black Bear at the University of Maine in Orono. While there, he plans to study chemical engineering. According to the University of Maine’s website, “Chemical Engineers are concerned primarily with the design, operation and management of processing systems to alter and upgrade raw materials into products that are more useful to society (and therefore more valuable).”

After graduating, Keith is not sure what it is exactly that he wants to do. He says he will probably continue his education by getting a Master’s degree or even a PhD, though in what, he is not sure.

#7 Haley Batchelder
Favorite subject: Biology
Favorite teacher: Mrs. Breton
Favorite movie: Frozen
Favorite book: The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Favorite band: Eli Young

Haley Batchelder is going to miss Windham High School. She will miss the sports programs (especially her basketball team) and Windham’s great facilities. She is also going to miss her friends, family, teachers, and Maine in general as she leaves for college this fall. While at Windham, she played three sports. She was on the volleyball team, she played lacrosse, and she was on the basketball team. In fact, her shining moment in her high school career took place on the basketball court. This past season, Haley shot the game-winning basket at the Western Maine Quarterfinals. Her shot made it so Windham could move on in the playoffs. In addition to playing three sports, Haley is also a member of the National Honor Society and works at Highland Variety.

Next year, Haley is going to the University of Rhode Island. While there, she plans on studying pharmacy. She also may play a club or intermural sport for fun. After she graduates from URI, she wants to become a pharmacist.

Finally, she wants to give a shout out to Kat.

#8 Kyah Morrissette
Favorite subject: English
Favorite teacher: Mrs. McBride
Favorite movie: The Great Gatsby
Favorite book: A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle
Favorite band: Hudson Taylor
Kyah Morrissette was an active member of the arts programs at Windham High School. Actually, despite the fact that she won’t miss Windham High School as a whole, she will miss the arts because she has had such a great experience, which she describes as amazing and unique. She was a part of the One-Act team, on which she acted, was in charge of publicity, and did the costuming. She sang with the chamber singers and was their wardrobe manager. She volunteers at the Schoolhouse Arts Center in Standish, and also acts in their Shakespeare show every summer. In her free time, she likes to play guitar and write poetry. Kyah is also fluent in Ubby-Dubby, a made up language from the old television show “Zoom,” in which after every syllable you say, you add the syllable “ubb.” Kyah was homeschooled up to the eighth grade. She says that high school is not necessarily better than being homeschooled, but it really just depends on the subject being taught.

This fall, she will head to Colby College in Waterville. She will be an undecided major. However, she plans on minoring in theater no matter what her major ends up becoming. After college, she has yet to decide on what type of job she would like to have. However, her dream job would be to own her own theater because “it would be awesome!”

#9 Kate Kneeland
Favorite subject: English
Favorite teacher: Mrs. Brown
Favorite movie: The Notebook
Favorite book: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Favorite musician: Ed Sheeran

Kate Kneeland is going to miss Windham High School. She will miss all of the friends she has made throughout her four years at the school. She is a two sport athlete, playing both tennis and soccer. In fact one of the highlights of her high school career occurred when the girls’ varsity soccer team won the state championship. She is also part of both the French Honors Society and the National Honors Society. She is a member of the Interact Club. Kate is also the student representative on the school board.

This fall, Kate will be travelling to Paxton, MA to study at Anna Maria College. While there, she plans on double-majoring. She is going to study political science and psychology. She is also going to become an AMCAT on the school’s soccer team. Anna Maria College’s mascots are the AMCAT, which is derived from the acronym Anna Maria College Athletic Team Sports. Kate chose Anna Maria College because it has a good political science program and soccer team. She is going to study political science and psychology because it is a good segue to law school, which is where she wants to go after graduating. After law school she wants to be a mediator in court.

Finally, Kate wants to thank all of the teachers who helped make her into the person she is today.

#10 Patrick Laliberte
Favorite subject: Chemistry
Favorite teacher: Mrs. McLellan
Favorite movie: Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
Favorite book: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling
Favorite musician: Gucci Mane

Patrick’s favorite part of Windham High School was the Friday night football games. In general, he thinks Windham is a pretty good school as schools go. He thinks that he will miss it, and he will miss all the people he likes and the friends he made. In addition to being a student at the high school, he was also an athlete. In the fall he ran with the cross-country team. In the winter he ran indoor track. In the spring he played on the lacrosse team.

Next year, Patrick is going to become a Black Bear at the University of Maine in Orono. While there, he plans on studying chemical engineering, which is the study of altering and processing raw materials into materials that are more useful for society. After college, Patrick would like to become a chemical engineer. However, his dream doesn’t involve chemical engineering at all. He would like to create his own rap album.

Finally, Patrick had a message for anyone reading this: “People need to relax and look at the positive outlooks on life. Just be positive. Live the base lifestyle.”
