Sunday, July 14th, was a
perfect day for the beach - both for the humans and the horses who participated
in Riding To The Top Therapeutic Riding Center’s 16th annual Barn to
Beach Ride-a-Thon.
Jeanette and Mark Hagen of Breakwater Farm in Cape
Elizabeth hosted the event. The Ride-A-Thon began with a trail ride, moved onto
the beach for a dip, and finished with lunch (gourmet salads for riders;
hay/apples/carrots for the horses!).
The event has raised almost $178,000 since it began in
2003 in support of equine assisted activities and therapies for people with
disabilities at Riding To The Top. This year the ride has raised close to
$9,000 to date.
