“Mary Poppins, Jr.” flies into Windham Middle School

Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s “Mary Poppins Jr.” is playing at Windham Performing Arts Center from January 16 through January 25, 2019. The “practically perfect” 70-minute musical, designed for middle school-aged performers, is based on the classic P.L. Travers stories and the Walt Disney film.

The Windham Middle School cast includes more than 50 students led by director Suzy Cropper. “These kids are working so hard this year. This is going to be a magical event for our community,” said Cropper. All of London is shouting from the rooftops about this exciting stage adaptation of the classic tales of Mary Poppins. Join the Banks family as they encounter adventure after fun-filled adventure with their curious new nanny, Mary Poppins. Adapted especially for young performers, this musical includes favorite Sherman Brothers songs such as “A Spoonful of Sugar,” “Feed the Birds,” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” as well as wonderful new songs by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.

With colorful characters and an irresistible score, “Mary Poppins Jr.” is sure to be a crowd-pleaser for all ages! Tickets to the show are general admission. They can be purchased at the door just before each show Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7 p.m., and Saturdays at 2 p.m., January 16th through the 25th.

The Windham Middle School Drama Club is in its 10th year putting on high quality productions for our community and giving students a chance to hone their craft. The director Suzy Cropper is joined this year by a fabulous team with musical director Diane Hancock, and choreographer April Monte.
