In the Stacks at the Windham Public Library - By Jen Alvino, library director

I’m pleased to announce that our first day in the Minerva consortium will be Monday, November 24th. To ensure that all our data is transferred the library needs to be closed Friday, November 21st. During the closure, the consortium staff will be working to load all our records into the new software and library staff members will be updating checkouts and transferring holds to the new system.

Last week, library staff members received software training. We will continue practicing over the next couple weeks. The software is complex and the new delivery service is an additional workload. We will be working hard to make this a smooth transition but please understand that there is much to learn and things will be a little slower as we get started. Your patience as we familiarize ourselves with the new software and additional workload is appreciated.

Stop by the library and pick up a handout with important information and changes you’ll need to know about the consortium. This is an exciting new service and the staff is very anxious to share it with you.
Don’t forget The Friends of WPL Book and Bake sale is Saturday, November 15th 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There is a Preview Sale Friday, November 14th 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with a $10 fee for each person entering the building. Also, November is Picture Book month. Stop in and pick up a log sheet to track the picture books you read this month. Read 20 that are new to you and receive a special certificate!

Be sure to visit our website www.windham.lib.me.us and Facebook page for the most up to date news and information about all our programs.

I hope to see you in the library soon!

~Jen Alvino
Library Director
