Tree Talk - By Robert Fogg

Have you ever noticed, when you are outside this time of year, how far sounds travels? It’s because the deciduous trees have lost their leaves and are no longer acting as sound dampeners. There are many benefits provided by trees, most of which we take for granted. Trees provide shade in the summer and warmth, through firewood and pellets, in the winter. Evergreen trees make a great wind-break in the winter as well as protection for birds and animals. Trees provide us with the very air that we breathe, and they absorb carbon dioxide in the process. They give us lumber to build our homes as well as fruit and nuts for sustenance. The list goes on and on. It’s hard to imagine a world without trees. I’m not sure the earth could survive without trees. Luckily, we don’t need to worry about that as Mother Nature is constantly trying to reclaim any open space. I’ve noticed that it happens regardless of the economy or other outside factors. And, that’s job security for people like me.
