Maine Orff Festival of Music celebrates 21st year
The Maine Orff Festival celebrated its 21st year on Saturday, March 8th with third and fourth grade students from Manchester School, Windham Primary School (WPS) and Raymond Elementary School. The students spent the day singing, dancing and playing xylophones, metallophones, and percussion instruments. The day culminated in a performance at 2 p.m. on the stage at the Primary School. The Orff Music Festival is based on the music education approach founded by the European composer Carl Orff. Windham Primary School has been hosting the festival for 21 years. Music teachers leading the festival were Patti Gordan – Raymond Elementary School/WPS, Nancy Cash-Cobb – Windham Primary School and Charles Oehrtmann – Manchester School/WPS.
