It’s that time of year again….tax season! This year the IRS has drastically reduced the amount of supplies they send to public libraries. Due to severe IRS budget cuts we have available only the basic forms but no booklets. However, all the forms can be found online and we are happy to assist you with printing what you need from the IRS website.
In addition, you may have noticed over
the last two years, a charitable contribution tax check off that supports
libraries in Maine through the Maine Public Library Fund. Be sure to look for
it this year and give if you can. The donations through this tax check off last
year help the Friends of the Maine State Library to support libraries
throughout Maine. Last year approximately $32,000 was raised through this check
off. The funds supported additional ebooks for the MaineInfonet Download
Library, of which we are a member. The money that is raised through this tax
check off directly benefits libraries in Maine and their community members.
Thank you for your support.
Unfortunately, due to inclement weather
our Library Tea was cancelled in January. We will be celebrating our tenth
anniversary tea, “Tea times Ten,” next month, March 17th at 1:30 p.m.
Join us! The teas are a great opportunity for community members of all ages to
join together in a welcoming atmosphere to visit with old friends and meet new
ones! Thanks to Laurel and Barbara for all their hard work over the years!
Our new monthly genealogy program has
been very successful. Reserve your spot today! We had a full room of community
members learning about researching their heritage. Call and speak with Barbara
for more information at 892-1908.
Ebooks are coming! We will soon begin
offering a new ebook service called the 3M Cloud Library. This will be an
exciting new collection of ebooks in addition to the MaineInfonet Download
Library already being offered. This new collection will only be accessible to
Windham Library cardholders and we will choose the titles to add to it. There
will be much more information to come about this exciting new service.
I hope to see you in the library soon!
