The Maine Event Prom Project held its first annual Prom
Gown Giveaway Boutique on Saturday and Sunday. Several eager volunteers hung
447 gowns and dresses in the hall of the Bridgton United Methodist Church in
preparation to help area students attend their proms this spring. Students were
allowed to try on gowns and dresses and choose a favorite one to keep for her
prom. A donation of $10 or more was made for each gown, and that will help to
provide gowns to future students next year.
"Many of the gowns had never been worn before, and
we had a terrific variety of styles from size 0 to 28. We were able to provide
a gown to every girl who attended," said owner and organizer for the event
Christine Bradstreet.
"The event would not have been possible without the
hard work of our volunteers, and I am especially grateful to Pastor Cathy
Cantin of the Bridgton United Methodist Church for generously opening the
church's hall for our use," said Bradstreet
The organization collects gowns all year to prepare for the
spring boutique. Gowns can be dropped off at the Bridgton Public Library,
Raymond Public Library or Casco Community Center. For more information, email info@maineeventpromproject.org or
