Amber Rickett is The Windham Eagle student of the week. The
seventh grader at Jordan-Small Middle School has two cats, a dog and an older
sister. Her favorite subject is social studies.
Her teacher had this to say about Rickett. “Early in the morning, just before the sky is
stained pink with the newborn sun, a lamp is still lit atop of an old New
England lighthouse - one shining dent piercing the dark canvas before it. It is
that lighthouse that provides hope for those who need safety among the
obstacles of life. The lighthouse guides us towards a successful journey and is
a symbol of the power of perseverance, even when times are dark and stormy. It
is that lighthouse that makes us think of Amber Rickett. It is her smile that
penetrates a crowd and infects those around her. It is her initiative to spread
kindness and hope on a personal level. She stands before the waves of her peers
and is unmoved in her mission to demonstrate compassion and diligence in
learning. She is a gentle spirit who spreads light and courage through the
halls of JSMS, and for that she is our student of the week.”
