Sylvan Learning Centers of
Maine is excited to announce the opening of a Sylvan Satellite location in
Windham on May 20th. Instruction will be
held at 588 Roosevelt Trail in the space above Time4Printing. Classes will be
offered after-school and morning classes will be added for the summer.
Sylvan works with students
in grades K-12 in reading, writing, math, study skills, SAT prep and academic
support. Students start with a skills assessment that pinpoints their strengths
and weaknesses. An individualized
program is then built just for that student from the information gathered from
the assessment. Students work through
their programs with a certified teacher at their own pace.
Mary Whited, owner of
Sylvan Learning Centers in Maine, said being able to offer instruction closer
to families’ homes has allowed many more families to take advantage of their
programs. After opening a Satellite in Brunswick last fall and seeing how much
people appreciated the convenient location, she decided to open one in Windham
as well.
Sylvan incorporates the
skills assessment, individualized learning plan, and teacher-led instruction
that have served Sylvan students in Maine for the past 20 years.
