High school proms are a rite of passage for students, a
way to dress up in sparkly dresses and tuxedos and be part of the glamorous
crowd for a night. Windham had its junior/senior prom two weeks ago at the
Ocean Gateway in Portland, where senior Ryan Plummer and Sarah Rich were voted
prom king and queen by their peers.
“She is very proud to be queen of the prom,” said Sarah’s
mom, Jill. Sarah will attend Franklin-Pierce University as a health science
major.
Ryan will be attending University of New England in
Biddeford in the physician’s assistant program.
The prom was coordinated by teacher Kelly Ann Rush. It
was her first year. “The food, music, decorations…people described it as the
‘best prom ever’,” said Jill Rich. “Her creativity made everybody’s night.”
Ticket sales were almost double what they have been in
the past, according to Jill. “It was very successful.”
Ryan and Sarah have been dating for a year and a half and
were described as a “great young couple.”
Ryan is the son of Scott and Kim Plummer from Raymond.
