The
Windham Eagle student of the week is Claire Nelson, a soon to be eighth grader
at Jordan-Small Middle School. Claire’s favorite subject is art because she
gets to express her feelings. She enjoys drawing, watching TV and playing video
games.
“To
say Claire Nelson is a fun person to be around as well as a loyal friend, that
she has a good sense of humor and a knack for writing is an understatement of
catastrophic proportions. Her ability to examine situations and come up with
just the right balance of humor and insight is beyond her years and certainly a
handy trait for a friend and a writer. Claire is a good listener whose support
of others during their good times and their bad ones makes her an empathetic
soul. She is usually able to see the humor in life and translates that to her
relationships as well as her writing,” said her teacher at JSMS.
Education
is important to her because it helps prepare her for what she wants in life.
“When
I grow up I want to mean something of importance to someone,” Claire said.
Claire
is the daughter of her mom Traci, her stepmom Theresa, her dad Wallace and her
stepdad Kirk. She has three brothers, Calvin, Travis and Kyle and five
stepsiblings, Steven, Josh, Ian, Mike and Kelly.
Favorite
TV show: Criminal Minds because it’s nice to know that there are bad people in
the world and one way or another they are taken care of.
Favorite
Animal: Cat
Favorite
movie: Shrek because it sends out a message about how life isn’t always how you
would like it and that everyone deserves a happy ending.
